Mastering Stress-Free Wedding Planning in Perth: Top Tips to Help you Enjoy Your Experience

Planning your wedding is one of life's most exciting and memorable experiences. You are the conductors of the celebration of your love story, ensuring all the arrangements, notes, key players and timings come together in a gloriously harmonious symphony, to make memories you'll cherish for your lifetime together.

As a Perth-based wedding planner, I understand how overwhelming wedding planning can be for couples, so here are my top tips to help you enjoy a stress-free wedding planning experience.

Your Wedding is a Celebration of your Love

Remember that the most important thing about your wedding is your commitment to each other. Don't lose sight of the joy and significance of the occasion amid the details and planning. Keep this in mind as you plan your wedding to maintain perspective.

Visualise your Wedding

Sit together and define your wedding vision.

  • Consider your desired wedding vibe – is it fun and party, elegant and classy etc.?

  • Choose five words to describe your wedding style.

  • Describe how you want to feel and how you want your guests to feel.

  • Describe how you want your wedding to be remembered.

  • Source inspiration images that communicate your aspirations for your day and create a vision board. Incorporate your chosen words. Later, you can elaborate on each element of your day by creating more detailed vision boards for hair and makeup, the ceremony, reception and cocktail hour, wedding attire, flowers etc. You can send these to your vendors when seeking their availability and quotes.

  • Decide on your budget, discuss the approximate number of guests, preferred location/types of venue/s, preferred reception meal service. Discuss your wedding entertainment. Will children be invited to your wedding? Do you want a cake? Prioritize what's most important to you both, whether it's the venue, the food, or the music, and allocate your budget accordingly. Create a detailed wedding planning timeline with milestones for major tasks such as booking the venue, choosing vendors, and sending out invitations. Communication is Key

Open and honest communication between you and your partner is crucial. Discuss your ideas, expectations, and any potential conflicts early on. Find solutions that make both of you happy. Maintaining a strong partnership during the wedding planning process will make it smoother and more enjoyable.

Hire a Wedding Planner or Coordinator

Hire a professional wedding planner or at least month-of coordintor. I will handle the logistics, so that you can relax and enjoy your wedding celebrations.

Enjoy the Journey

Relish each step of you wedding planning experience. Connect with your wedding vendors (Perth has some of the best), taste the cake and the food, make a day/trip of your venue viewing. Have fun incorporating unexpected inclusions/omitting certain traditions that will make your wedding unique and a true celebration of your love story.

Don't Obsess

You're more than likely going to be planning your wedding over an extended period and you don't want to miss out on life's beautiful moments.

Take Time Away from Wedding Planning

Spend quality time with your partner. Enjoy hobbies, plan activities and dates or just relax. Enjoy each other and have fun together. Don’t discuss the wedding.

Stay Organized

Create a wedding planning zone on your computer and use spreadsheets and planners to keep track of all the details, from vendor contacts to contact details and payment schedules. Add appointments and key dates such as payment and information due dates to your calendar so you never miss a deadline.

Digitise your RSVPs

Use an online platform that will allow your wedding guests to RSVP online and provide their dietary information and meal choices and edit their responses. Certain platforms will also make it easier to communicate important wedding updates in the lead up to the wedding and follow up with invitees who have not responded by the due date.

Create a Detailed Run Sheet

Around the six-month mark, start populating your wedding run sheet. Vendor contracts and terms and conditions are a great source for finding key day-of information, which you can use to help plan your day. Update your run sheet as details are confirmed. Your vendors will need the first draft at least 6 - 8 weeks form the wedding.
